To conduct research on encrusting red algae. Multiple species of this algae are present on the reefs, but we have a very poor understanding of their diversity, distribution, and abundance. During this visit I will survey the reefs for the abundance of different species of encrusting red algae. These reef surveys will provide a snap shot of the current species diversity. Additionally I'd like to place recruitment plates on the reef to determine how many species are currently recruiting to reefs in French Polynesia.
