Our class will deploy 40 8x8 cm ceramic tiles in the intertidal zone on the rocks. We will attach tiles to the rocks using a drill and small screws and bolts. A total of 20 tiles will be deployed in the upper intertidal zone at the highest point where water covers the rocks and 20 tiles in the lower intertidal zone that is only exposed for brief periods during low tide. These tiles will be left out between November 5-November 19 to determine barnacle settlement on tile surfaces. Tiles will then be removed along with all materials used to fasten them to the rock on November 19th.
