Coal Oil Point Natural Reserve

24 Apr, 08 AM - 08 May, 03 PM

Take a guided nature walk along the beach or coastal dunes to observe the Snowy Plover and its nesting habitat. Learn from wildlife experts or park rangers about why the Snowy Plover is endangered and what’s being done to protect it. Use binoculars and field notebooks to observe, sketch, and take notes about the bird's behaviors, surroundings, and survival challenges. Participate in a hands-on conservation activity such as cleaning up part of the beach, identifying threats, or helping install awareness signs (if permitted). Ask questions and collect information to use in our classroom writing project on endangered species. This trip is designed to connect science learning with real-life observation, build environmental awareness, and inspire students to take action in protecting local wildlife.
