Burns Pinon Ridge Reserve

29 Dec, 12 PM - 02 Jan, 12 PM

I am a graduate student in the art department at UC Davis. My work has involved geographically site specific research that I later use for video footage to discuss the diversity and vast changes in the California landscape. I use California as a microcosmic example of overall environmental decline because of its vastly diverse environments throughout the state. I am interested in exploring and researching the area this reserve entails. I have previously worked here where I have used projectors to display video work on the landscape itself. I am interested in building on this work and working on a new project in this area that involves the same themes. I will be doing this project in two visits. One where I am mapping out a section of mountain and rocks to where the site specific work will be displayed. I will then measure each rock involved in that area for the fabric slips I will be making and forming over the rocks for the final piece. The second visit will involved actually bringing this work to life and documenting it through video and photography. This project will not interfere with the landscape and just be placed onto the landscape itself to interact with the wind power in this area and insert a bright, painted coloration into the natural landscape.
