Since we now have rock N data from samples collected near Christy's in January, we would like to return to assess rock-derived nitrogen concentrations in some of the soils formed in the Rincon, Cozy Dell, Jolla Viejo, and Vaqueros formations in the southwestern portion of the island. We would ideally like to camp at Christy's for three nights, spending two full days in the field, doing some exploration of slope & soil stability by foot and/or vehicle, depending on accessibility. We would like to take some preliminary soil samples and, if a suitable location is identified, dig & describe 1 soil pit in soil formed in the Rincon or Cozy Dell shale.
