The proposed fieldwork includes in-situ measurement of methane emissions and sediment sampling. An emission chamber (i.e., modified plastic box) will be deployed in the hypersaline pool and along the channel for several hours, which is connected to a portable greenhouse analyzer to quantify the methane emission rate from the underlying sediments. Some upper 5 cm of sediments in the hypersaline pool will be collected in a 250 ml bottle.
