Working with Nicole Molinari from UCSB, we plan on helping to establish the first few SOD Management plots in Big Creek. Plots will be identical to UCDavis' larger long-term SOD monitoring plot network and established in selected mixed-evergreen sites where SOD is known to exist and there is low bay density. All trees will be mapped and checked for SOD symptoms. All bay trees with symptomatic leaves will be sampled before removal. We will teach Nicole's students how to establish vegetation plots and how to identify symptoms associated with SOD.
