We are a cohort of graduate students, undergraduates, and one professor, Stacy Philpott. We are from UC Santa Cruz Environmental Studies department and want to come use the Big Creek Reserve as a space to conduct scientific exchange of ideas and research methods before the summer field season starts. We will spend the time in the field learning research methods for insect collection and bird monitoring, which are methods we will be employing in our study sites in the summer. We will also use the large indoor Reserve space to study hymenopteran biology and develop our field written protocol. In sum, the weekend will be used for research practice development and to prepare for the field season.
