To examine community composition at my study sites, I will survey species in 0.25 m2 quadrats located at 0.5-meter vertical intervals along 10 randomly placed vertical transects at each site. In each quadrat, I will estimate the percent cover of sessile species and count the number of mobile invertebrate species. These quantitative data will be used to create a presenceabsence matrix that can be compared to null model matrices. I will also take digital photographs to determine which species are physically interacting with one another.
