My team and I will be on site to conduct research in the area and staying at Big Creek would provide the much needed logistical support. The field component of research consists of collecting soil samples along a gradient of Sudden Oak Death infestation. We are working with Dave Rizzo's team from UC-Davis for site selection, considering that Rizzo's team has access to long-term experimental plots. The lab component implies series of microbial analyses aimed at identifying whether Sudden Oak Death has a direct effect on mycorrhizal colonization.
