Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve
29 May, 11 AM - 31 May, 02 PM
Big Sur Charter School would like to hold an end of the school year three-day outdoor education program for the 7th and 8th-grade students. This Stewardship Camp aims to increase student awareness and understanding of the natural world, through hands-on activities and unique experiences in a pristine natural surrounding.
During the program, students will hike to mountain vistas overlooking the Pacific Ocean to have a discussion about interconnectedness, explore the pristine steelhead creek and sampling for macroinvertebrate, learn about astronomy while laying under the stars, make meals together in the outdoor kitchen, and enjoy campfire activities with friends. Students will have numerous opportunities to increase their connection with the physical environment, practice basic camp skills, and leave no trace ideals.
Big Sur Charter School K-8th students all participate in our Coastal Stewardship Program year round. Stewardship Camp is a unique experience the 7th & 8th graders earn to attend and in result reinforce their appreciation and respect for nature that they acquired throughout the school year.
