The STEM Diversity Research Programs (STEM Divs) at UC Santa Cruz have a long history of supporting at-risk, underrepresented, low-income, and first-generation students in STEM fields interested in pursuing research opportunities and advancing in higher education. The Summer Research Institute will do a 3-day field research experience with 12 students that will hike to collect Drosophila and Collect samples at the beach/river mouth and process samples back at the UCSC laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Sullivan.
