The Summer Research Institute (SRI)-STEM Diversity Research Programs (STEM Div) at UC Santa Cruz have a long history of supporting at-risk, underrepresented, low-income, and first-generation students in STEM fields interested in pursuing research opportunities and advancing in higher education. The Summer Research Institute will conduct a three-day field research experience with 12 students who will hike to collect Drosophila, collect samples at the beach/river mouth, and process samples back at the UCSC laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Sullivan.
