Quail Ridge occurs within the ranges of three Pacific newt species: Taricha torosa, Taricha granulosa, and Taricha rivularis. However, it has yet to be confirmed whether those species all occur within the reserve. I seek to visit Quail Ridge and perform an exploratory dip-net and visual survey to characterize the newt diversity on site. This will determine whether Quail Ridge is a useful site for my thesis research, namely investigating introgression and toxin regulation in micro-sympatric newt species.
