On this visit, we would like to test our set up for measuring soil penetration resistance using a tiling probe (https://www.ams-samplers.com/5-8-x-3-extendable-tile-probe-complete/) coupled to a slide hammer. This will involve driving a thin 5/8" rod into the soil several dozen times in the vicinity of Heath Goertzen's soil pit at Windmill, as well as near the location of the pit described in Bingham et al., 2021, one hill below, also in Windmill.
