I plan to make a terrestrial LiDAR scan of a hillslope with a historic landslide sites. To do this I will need to insert 3 metal poles approx. 3 inches in diameter at a depth of 3 feet into the soil at the top of the hill slope. The poles will be driven into the ground with a hammer and stand at a height of 3-4 feet above the surface. These poles will need to remain in place during the course of El Nino (april/may) in order to be tiepoints for subsequent scans and may then be removed. The scan itself requires no modification of soil or biology.
