The purpose of this field trip is to repeat observations made along six fixed transects at the Air Strip weather station made at the start of April this year. Students will work in groups measuring vegetation transects along 6 fixed transects estimating canopy height, measuring species composition, surface albedo and temperature. They will use digital cameras to quantitatively measure fractional cover using a CCD camera and surface temperature with a FLIR. Depending on weather conditions, we will include spectroscopic measurements with an ASD.
