Sedgwick Reserve

04 Jun, 01 PM - 06 Jun, 03 PM

For the project: Movement Sketches, I want to do some site specific dance and movement art on the reserve. Starting my photographing specimens of plants on the reserve. I will video tape and photograph the landscape, as well as record sounds of the nature…bugs, animals, wind and general atmosphere. This would be research with a goal of creating some movement sketches inspired by the reserve. These movement sketches (think Simone Forti or Trisha Brown) are inspired by nature. I would like to study the plants on the Sedgwick reserve. This is part of my process, I need a seed of research and inspiration to start with when choreographing a new performance art piece. I would keep the photos, videos and sound recordings in personal archives and would be respectful to not use any images of the reserve in public facing work if there are restrictions on that. I have a rigorous professional art practice that encompasses video and dance. This choreographic process work is part of my professional career and will contribute toward my MFA degree and thesis research. The Chair of my committee is Professor Shauna Moulton.
