On this trip, my primary goal is to identify 2-3 suitable soil pit locations for a Saturday field trip with my class later this quarter. We will meet with Frank Davis at the sign-in station in the Tipton Meeting House in the morning starting at 9 am, and continue scouting activities in the afternoon. I will be joined by Piper Lovegreen, a UCSB PhD student, and Heath Goertzen, a PhD student from UC Davis who will be assisting in scouting/pit descriptions as well as exploring possible locations for his future research. We would like to collect some soil samples for teaching demos/educational purposes.
