I will collect blade tissue of Silvetia compressa, Stephanocystis sp., Pterygophora californica, and Egregia menzeisii from the intertidal zone (n=3). Tissue will be swabbed in the field to sample metagenomic DNA, and then taken to the lab for fucoidan extraction.
