We plan to read the works of authors who write about both marginalization and sexuality, such as Garth Greenwell and Jeanette Winters, and discuss the application of these concepts in our own work, talking specifically about the intersectionality of sexuality, race, and gender as represented in the contemporary world of literature. We will also work on our respective literary projects (novels) and exchange work for feedback. We also plan to engage with the natural world for creative inspiration, thinking about the rise of "placelessness" in contemporary literature as an effect of the technological age, as well as the relationship between American regionalism and the "otheredness" of immigrants that locks them out of that tradition.
