We will be conducting a large burn table experiment at UNR with some collaborators from Michigan State University and the Forest Service during the 2nd week in July. We will need to collect fuels for the analysis, including about 61 gallons of litter and 61 gallons of duff (approximately 1 medium sized trash can full of each; split between 2 locations: ideally Whittell Forest and Sagehen Experiment Forest). We will need to collect this material from areas that have not recently burned and there is substantial forest floor material. Additionally, we will collect 3 five gallon buckets of mineral soil from each of the same two locations. Soils will be collected from the top 15 cm of the mineral layer, which we will then refill with soil.
