Scope summary: ERDC-CRREL has funding from a Congressional Plus up and CCDC-C5ISR to improve the detection capabilities of existing sensor modalities for surface and subsurface mine/IED detection by taking into account environmental conditions (terrain, soil properties, and meteorology). The project entails setting up a temporary tower (max height 20 ft) upon which we have downward looking thermal cameras and meteorological instrumentation. We also need to emplace temperature and moisture sensor probes into the ground and emplace several simulated mines (depth less than 12 inches). All data is downloaded to a datalogger at the site. Duration of the test could be 2-4 weeks depending on permissions from the installation.
