The Field Station is located approximately 8 miles north of Truckee, California at an elevation of 6,400'

1. From I-80, take the Highway 89 North exit toward Sierraville (just east of Truckee)

2. Travel 8.4 miles on Highway 89 North. Turn left onto a Forest Service dirt road. This turn is marked:
• Look for a brown, two-car garage on the west side of Highway 89 just north of the dirt road
• On the right side, you'll see a green CalTrans sign: "Sagehen Creek Field Station Experimental Forest"

3. After about 150 yards, the dirt road will split:
• Continue straight ahead
• Look for a yellow sign that says "Road Closed 500 feet" (this is the correct road)
• A small sign with "Field Station" and an arrow will indicate you're on the right path

4. Continue 500 feet to the locked access gate.
• Contact the Station Manager in advance for the gate combination. ** Note: Cell phones do not work beyond this point
• Open the gate, drive through, and always close and lock it behind you. Ensure the lock is replaced exactly as you found it,
without bypassing other locks.

5. Continue for 1.8 miles down the dirt road to the Field Station

6. Park in the designated parking lot on the left upon arrival
