I am planning to do landscape photography for my thesis project. Below is my project's abstract:
The impact of architecture and the built environment on our well-being is significant, especially considering that a large portion of the global population residing in urban areas spends the majority of their time indoors. The recognition of populations unable to access natural environments highlights the potential of innovative technologies like virtual reality (VR) and immersive media. Through these advancements, individuals constrained by physical limitations or urban living can still experience the restorative effects of nature. Technology-driven solutions not only complement the irreplaceable value of real nature but also provide inclusive opportunities for enhancing mental well-being and nurturing a profound connection with the natural world. Furthermore, the incorporation of sensory inputs can enhance the effectiveness of these experiences. By engaging multiple senses, these immersive encounters can more authentically replicate the therapeutic benefits of nature and create inclusive environments that fit individuals' diverse needs. In this project, I embark on a personal journey across the United States, aiming to capture the essence of diverse landscapes through photography. My goal is to curate a collection of images that not only showcase the beauty of nature but also convey a deeper narrative about our relationship with the environment. Through careful curation and storytelling, I arrange these photographs into a cohesive sequence, exploring themes such as environmental conservation and the interconnectedness of ecosystems. Leveraging the power of artificial intelligence and using it only as a tool, I will enhance this curated dataset to create a captivating video experience. The culmination of my efforts is an immersive exhibition at the Design Museum, where I project the video, inviting the audience to engage with the narrative and reconnect with the natural world on an emotional and multisensory level. Through this multimedia approach, I aim to promote emotional well-being by fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of our natural surroundings.
