This event will be for two university-affiliated individuals (and a minor child) to have a work retreat. Jason Rothman is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UC Irvine (and will be starting a faculty position as a Assistant Professor of Teaching at UC Riverside in August), Stephanie Marin Rothman is a Lecturer at Cal Poly Pomona University. They will continue their collaboration on educational materials to help students understand the nature of science in both majors and non-majors courses. This project involves urban and suburban undergraduate students and how active learning and outdoor activities impact their educational outcomes. We will design curriculum to get students to leave the standard classroom setting and experience wildlife with sensitivity to the individual students' funds of knowledge. The two adults will also collaborate on finishing existing manuscripts in the inspirational setting of the Yosemite Field Station, similar to last visit.
