Yosemite Field Station

We are running a wildfire education workshop for US Housing and Urban Development employees who control the Community Development Black Grant - Disaster Relief program, which funds our wildfire mitigation and disaster recovery research. HUD employees are here to learn about wildfire and how impacts to humans can be mitigated. We will tour the recent Washburn fire to see the effects of repeated prescribed burning on subsequent wildfire, see recent defensible space work in Wawona and contrast to Yosemite West, see thinning and fuel reduction treatments along roads and in Yosemite Valley, tour Fire Wise communities in Oakhurst.
