During our field trip, we plan to introduce students to the natural history and biodiversity of the desert ecosystem. We'd also like students to design simple field experiments to measure how different environmental parameters after biodiversity. These simple studies would be observational in nature and would likely require the use of quadrats or transects to quantify species richness in distinct microhabitats (ex. shade vs exposed).
