Research Center use is restricted to research, education, and public outreach programs that are in line with our mission to advance understanding and stewardship of the natural environment. 

Before visiting the Research Center, users must submit a visit request, obtain permission, and coordinate all activities and research projects with the Reserve Manager.   Permits issued through Anza-Borrego Desert State Park are required to conduct work in the Park.
  
Project partners (Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and Anza-Borrego Foundation) are eligible for UC rates.

The Steele/Burnanad Anza-Borrego Desert Research Center is an 88 acre property that lies on the western edge of the Colorado Subdivision of the Sonoran Desert, in eastern San Diego County.  To the west, the Peninsular Range creates a rain-shadow that has produced habitat for ocotillo, smoketree, palo verde, and ironwood.  Animal communities include the protected Peninsular bighorn sheep and Mojave desert tortoise, desert horned lizards, and roadrunners.
