Point Reyes Field Station
19 Jan, 12 PM - 20 Jan, 09 AM
The purpose of our visit to the nature reserve is to provide students with a hands-on learning experience that combines fieldwork and scientific inquiry. Our class will explore nearby fossil sites to study the region's paleoenvironment and gain insights into the area's paleontological history. Additionally, we will observe vertebrate species in their natural habitat, allowing students to better understand contemporary ecosystems and biodiversity.
During our visit, students will actively engage in data collection, analysis, and field observations. The experience will culminate in student-led presentations, where findings from both the fossil exploration and vertebrate observations will be shared with the class and, potentially, the broader reserve community. This visit aims to deepen students' understanding of the intersection between paleontology, ecology, and conservation, fostering a greater appreciation for natural history and the importance of preserving these environments.
