The PhD Candidates involved all are working on projects that in some way document a place in Northern California. Our focus as a group is discussing different documentary strategies for thinking about place-based projects and how to communicate a sense of place to audiences, in both writing and film. We would like to use the weekend time to both generate new material (Friday and Saturday during the day) in anticipation of workshopping our projects on Saturday night and Sunday morning. Lior and Hannah both produce documentary films and Matt works on creative non-fiction and fiction.
