Set-up a reproductive biology experiment for J. californica. Erect two hummingbird exclusion cages on two plants using garden poles (as I did before). The cages would only be in place during my visit. Small mesh bags would be zip-tied to the branches of the treated flowers until the fruits develop (3-4 weeks). They are visible but remain on the plants. In my previous year doing this experiment I recovered all of the bags. Observe hummingbird and insect visits to J. californica flowers.
