We plan to perform seaweed biodiversity surveys in the rocky intertidal zone at Dike Rock on Nov 27-29, 2023. We will survey and photograph seaweed biodiversity in 27 0.5 x 0.5 m quadrats in the high, mid, and low zones (n = 9 per zone). Large canopy forming species' blades will be gently moved to view the understory but all canopies will be placed back in their original position after the survey. One goal with this survey method is to use high-resolution photographs to minimize impacts to intertidal species. We will also survey tidal heights of each quadrat location. This methodology does not involve collation of any organisms.
