The Mountain Native Plants class from College of the Desert would like to walk the nature trail to observe the different species of native trees and shrubs. Students will learn identification characteristics of trees and shrubs, as well as features of the common plant families (e.g. Pinaceae, Fagaceae). We will also talk about the habitat and natural communities. Students will take photographs and will post observations of at least five species on iNaturalist. We would like to arrive between 9:00 and 9:30 am. We visited the James Reserve last October 2024 for this course.
